The Orchestra was founded in 2007 alongside Situation Opera. The plan was to create an opera company in which each group played an equal and equally-respected role: Singers, Orchestra and Crew alike.

In October 2008 the Orchestra began its first Concerto Series, allowing members of the Orchestra to perform classical repertoire with full orchestra - a rare opportunity and an exciting way of exploring some of history's most wonderful music. These concerts were a huge success, and in September 2009 we started our second Concerto Series, featuring both established and new members of the orchestra.

On these pages you can meet our players - each section has its own page. By clicking on the image of player, you will be taken to a page with biographical notes on each member of the Orchestra. A note to the keen concert-goer... Whilst most ensembles divide their violins into first and second sections (indeed, just as we do for performance), we feel players get a more rounded experience from playing in both sections - different positions require and develop different skills, and we aim to encourage and support well-rounded musicians!
